Maria Torgeson

Maggie was born on February 9, 1919 in San Diego, California to Juan and Virginia Marquez. She had two sisters, Virginia (Millan), and Ida (Ramos). Mom married our father Ernest (Ernie) on July 15, 1944. They had five children, Veronica, Adrienne (Geoff), Vivian (Ernie), Ernie (Debbie) and was preceded in death by her daughter Alicia (Rick).

Maggie graduated from San Diego High School in 1937. She worked at Walker Scott Department Store. She retired as a Teachers’ Aide for the San Diego Unified School District. She was a very involved parent when we were in school and active in the Catholic Daughters, and many other groups. She was always on the go!

We want to thank her caregivers, Juanita, Lupita, and especially Vicky and Elena who provided her with care for many years.

Services are Saturday, February 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Augustine High School Chapel, 3266 Nutmeg St., San Diego, 92106. Reception to follow at St. Patrick’s Church Hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul.
