Marvin, aka Marv or Vin, was born in Litchfield, MN to Maynard and Pearl Holmberg. The family moved to California when he was three years old. He graduated from Hoover High School in San Diego (1952) and San Diego State University (1956). Marv served two years in the US Navy as a storekeeper on the USS Brown, DD 546. He then went to work at Convair and spent his entire career there retiring after 35 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 62+ years, Bobbi, and daughters Janet (Shawn) and Pamela (Heather).
Marv passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Our thanks to Bridge Hospice and Lantern Crest Memory Care for their loving support.
Marv was active in Toastmasters, a 50-year member of Unity Lodge 632 Free and Accepted Masons, and active in Al Bahr Shrine serving as one of their hospital drivers. He served as President of their Antique Car Club in 1996 and also served as Treasurer for the Shrine. His pride and joy was a 1953 Chevy ¾ ton pickup. He was a 3-time Past Patron of Harbor Lights Chapter Order of the Eastern Star – 1972, 1987 and 2010.
A memorial service will be held at Al Bahr Shrine Center, 5440 Kearny Mesa Rd., San Diego on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 1:00 PM under the auspices of Unity Lodge and Harbor Lights Eastern Star.
