Matthew Dean James 1970-2021
It's with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Matthew Dean James. Matthew went to be with the lord on April 3rd, 2021. He was 50 years old. He passed in the presence of his family in Santee, CA, after a 6 year battle with a vicious neurological disease known as Frontotemporal Dementia. (FTD)
Matthew was born on August 28, 1970 at Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, CA to parents Jerry and Jean James. He had an older brother Corey Edward James, who unfortunately passed away before Matthew was born, and a younger brother, Mitchell Paul James. Matthew grew up and went to school in Lakeside, CA finishing his education at El Capitan High School, and departing H.S. for the U.S Army in 1987, where he became an Airborne Ranger. In 2003 Matthew married Ana Torres Castaneda, and together they had three beautiful children, Brianna, Matthew, and Cole. They eventually settled down in Pine Valley CA and it became the place the family would call home. Based in Pine Valley, Matthew started his roofing company, James and Associates, and it would go on to be a successful business. In his spare time Matthew enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving back country roads, watching old western movies, and reading books. He loved old country music and he loved to sing. He developed quite a local reputation for his singing talent. Matthew was also a talented artist. Both on paper, and with his many creations, such as his tissue roses, crucifixes, and scapulars. He adored his Siamese cat Macfearson and treasured his 15 years he had with him. As life moved forward, Matthew became committed to the Catholic Church. He attended Saint Anne Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time reading his Bible and collecting prayer cards.
Matthew is preceded in death by both sets of his grandparents, his great grandmother and his infant brother, Corey Edward James.
Matthew will be missed each and every day. And is survived by his father Jerry James and mother Jean James, brother Mitchell James, and wife Ana James. Children, Brianna, Matthew, and Cole. He will also be terribly missed by his Uncles, Aunts, cousins, nephews, and all the people who's lives he touched.
There will always be a void in our hearts. We will cherish our memories of you forever. Although you may be gone for now, you will never be forgotten and we will see you again in Heaven. We will always love you Matthew Dean James.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Matthew at El Monte Park in Lakeside on Saturday May 1st, 2021 at 1pm
