Merlin Philip Nagel

Merle Nagel, 74, passed away at home January 22, 2018. The memorial service will be held at Miramar National Cemetery February 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.

Merle was born at home in Flasher, N. Dakota to Dorothy (Kapp) Nagel and Philip Nagel. He graduated from Buchanan High School, N. Dakota in 1961 and proudly served the Navy for the next 22 years. He was stationed in Florida, Virginia Beach, Tennessee and San Diego. He also served on 2 carriers, Coral Sea and the Kitty Hawk.

He is survived by his wife June (Lawrence), son David Nagel (Leslie), daughters Lisa Guasti and Laurie Craven (Dave). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ryder Weisenburger of Prescott, AZ, Connor Guasti of Omaha, NB, McAllister Guasti of San Diego, CA, Tanner Turner (Sarah Gannon) of San Diego, CA, Cole Turner of San Diego, CA, Ciara Truner and Makenna McLaughlin of San Diego, CA He also had a great-grandson who he adores, Rohan William Gannon Turner.
