Mildred Stern-Wotring

Milly – beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend passed away surrounded by her family Wednesday afternoon. Milly was born in Los Angeles to Claire Newton and Mary Weaver in 1928. She met her first husband, Melvin C. Stern, in 1945 while attending a show at the Palladium in Hollywood during WWII. They had four children, three daughters and a son. Milly was widowed early and immersed herself into raising her young son and spending time with her grandchildren in Santee, CA. Milly enjoyed spending time with family and friends either entertaining in her home or taking the entertainment on the road out of the back of her little truck with the camper shell. Milly loved the desert, mountains and ocean equally and was always taking trips to places for a visit or a camping weekend. In 1999 Milly met an old friend for coffee named Wellington (Buss) Wotring and they were happily married until his death in 2014. Milly was pre-deceased by her parents, her sister Edna Crosby, Husbands Mel Stern, and Buss Wotring, daughters Diane Mills, and Kathleen Bradshaw. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Stern (David Ringen) of Santee, son Eric Stern of El Cajon, nephew Jim Crosby of Tennessee, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Milly was the center of our family and her presence, advice, generosity and love are missed and will be felt throughout generations. Milly was a long time member of St. Albans Episcopal Church in El Cajon, and there will be a memorial service celebrating her life on October 14 at 11 AM in the afternoon. Her family welcomes everyone who knew and loved Milly to join them in celebrating a beautiful life.
