Milkiah Warren Churchill
January 17, 2004—May 12, 2024
Born in Yrgalem, Sidama, Ethiopia, Milkiah moved to San Diego in 2008 to be the son of John and Brenda Churchill, and the brother of Rochelle and Kellen. He was a lively boy with a brilliant smile and an engaging disposition.
Milkiah was home-schooled by his mother through sixth grade, when he transferred to Horizon Christian Academy. He then attended Challenger Middle School and Mira Mesa High School; he graduated from Mission Bay High School.
He was an avid athlete whose main interest was basketball, and who lettered in track. He was also a swimmer who trained for six years to be a Junior Lifeguard. He enjoyed playing video games and watching animé.
Milkiah recently completed an electrician’s degree program at Summit College and was awaiting apprenticeship.
Milkiah attended The Rock Church, where he was baptized earlier this year. He is survived by a large, loving family, and many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at 9:00 am on May 28 at The Rock Church, 2277 Rosecrans Street, San Diego. In lieu of flowers or koden, the family suggests donations be made to the Orphan Care Fund at Wide Horizons for Children at whfc.org, or The Rock Church.
