Obituary for Molly Irene Burton

Molly Burton was a lifelong, third generation, resident of Lakeside. She attended Lakeside Middle School and was a graduate of El Cajon Valley High School, where she excelled as a student and as a member of the tall flag corps.
She was a talented, dedicated, and tireless person who worked at various jobs throughout her life, including retail and selling tickets for the Padres, but her favorite jobs included working with students; she worked in the Lakeside Unified District as a classroom aid, at El Capitan High School as a book clerk, and served as a teacher's assistant in the Santee School District, working with special needs students.
Molly enjoyed gardening, traveling, camping, and attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and activities. She was a devoted wife and mother, who always put the needs of her family first. She was caring, courageous, and compassionate and Molly concerned herself not only with her family, but the community of Lakeside as well. She was a member of the Lakeside Historical Society and the Lakeside Garden Club as well as a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church, where she worshipped throughout most of her life.
Molly recently lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her sister, Sally; her husband, Paul; her sons, Brad and Mitch; her daughters-in-law Donna and Debbie; and her four grandchildren. We will miss her sharp wit, her dauntless energy, and her unconditional love.
A memorial service will be held for Molly at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21st, with a reception immediately following the service.
