COBERN (NÉE CLARK), AGNES “NANCY” BROWN
On February 10, 2021, Nancy Cobern asked her Lord Jesus to take her home.
The daughter of Scottish immigrants, Nancy was born in Kokomo, IN, August
31, 1920, to William and Jemina Clark. She was the third of five siblings,
maintaining close relationships with all. A navy wife for 40 years, Nancy
faithfully raised her family on the homefront through three wars and many
moves. She enjoyed celebrating her Scottish heritage, often dawning a thistle
brooch or the colors of Clan Clark. Her muumuu dresses made her iconically
recognizable in day-to-day life, coupled with her glass-half-full worldview. A
proud mother and grandmother, Nancy cultivated unique, loving friendships
with all her children and grandchildren. As the family “cheerleader”, Nancy
rooted for her family to go after their dreams, work hard, and emulate Christ’s
love for others. Nancy is preceded by her loving husband of 70 years, Ernest
Lee Cobern, and is survived by her children Nancy Lee Harris, Bill Cobern,
Doug Cobern, and Mina Roysdon, 10 grandchildren, and five great-
grandchildren. Nancy will be interred at Miramar National Cemetery on
March 5, 2021. Donations can be made in Nancy’s memory to Operation
Mobilization at https://my.omusa.org/give/ or by check to Operation
Mobilization, P.O. Box 444, Tyrone, GA 30290-0444; please specify donations
