Norman Edward Albrecht 3-1-22 to 10-12-19
Norman Edward Albrecht was born to Hedwig (Hattie) and Walter Albrecht on March 1, 1922, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Norm and his brother Wally, and sister Anita, grew up in St. Paul and spent summers at their lake cottage on Lake Owasso in Roseville.
After serving in the army during WWII, he married Jean Swanson on June 15, 1946. (Jean died in 1991.) After completing his Masters degree from the University of Minnesota, he taught math and physics at Hamline University in St. Paul for nine years.Then he worked at Univac as a computer programer before serving as a staff mathematician and company-wide problem solver at Investors Diversified Services for 32 years before his retirement in 1986. Shortly after retirement, Norm and Jean moved to San Diego.
Norm loved to play the organ, listen to music, watch movies, work on his extensive stamp collection, read books and magazines, travel, volunteer, work on crossword and sudoku puzzles, and visit with family and friends. He and Jean also enjoyed active memberships at Falcon Heights United Church of Christ in Minnesota, and San Carlos United Methodist Church in San Diego.
Norm is survived by his four sons, Gordon, Dennis, Ronald and Steven, his daughters-in-law Suzanne, Barbara, and Lisa, nieces Kitty and Carol, eleven grandchildren, and seven great-grand children.
Norm will continue to inspire all those he touched with his loving and caring heart, incredible intellect, sense of humor, and his commitment to others.
