Patrick W. Gowan

Patrick Gowan of Coronado, CA passed away on Friday, April 17 2015

Patrick was born in San Diego, CA to Ida (Epp) Gowan and Joseph Henry Gowan. He graduated from Coronado H.S. in 1941. He graduated from United States Navy Academy in 1945 and served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Portland where he saw action at Pelelu, the Philippines and Okinawa. Pat continued his service in the Navy until 1957 after which he was in the Naval Reserves until 1964. Pat met Mary Ellen O’Reilly in that same year and they were married in 1965. Pat and Mary Ellen were happily married for 40 years before she passed away. Pat is survived by his sons John of Kirkland, WA and Patrick Jr. of Coronado, CA and his daughter Ann (John) Jack, granddaughters Aimee and Molly Morrissey of River Forest, IL.

A celebration Mass of Patrick’s life will be held at Sacred Heart Parish in Coronado, CA at 10AM on Wednesday, April 22nd with internment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Father Joe’s Village, 3350 E Street, San Diego, CA 92102
