Pedro Damian Sanchez

Pedro was a people person. He loved to meet new people and find common interests. This was easy for him as he had so many interests. He spoke two languages fluently and he never missed a chance to start up a conversation in either one. He passed away suddenly at home from a thoracic aortic aneurysm.
Pedro was born and grew up in Corrientes, Argentina in the countryside in a large family. He was the youngest. He went to primary school near his home in the countryside. He also helped his family with the crops and small store they owned. When he was older he attended school in the city and stayed with relatives. After finishing primary, he went on to the Regional School for high school. The oldest high school in the city. Then he went to the University of the Northeast and Medical School. He became a Doctor of Nuclear Medicine in 1967. He then received a fellowship to study at the University of CA at Berkeley. There he received a masters in Radiobiology. While in Berkeley he met his future wife. He returned to Argentina and she joined him. They had two children.
After retiring from medicine and returning to the USA he taught science to underprivileged children in the San Ysidro School District. He taught both elementary and Middle School students. He felt that it was important that they learn science.
He had many interests. He loved soccer and followed the Argentine National Team. He also enjoyed photography and joined a photo group in Lemon Grove to improve his photography skills. He was always looking for a good picture to take. He had a special love for Argentine folk music and enjoyed sharing it with others.
He was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved taking pictures of them and sharing them with friends and family. He also enjoyed traveling especially here in the USA. He truly loved his children and 4 grandchildren and his wife of 47 years. He had family in Argentina and never forgot about them and communicated with them daily by phone. He is missed very much by his family and friends.
