Peter Anthony Verich, 55 years old, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes at his home on Saturday, January 4, 2014 in Escondido California. Peter was born on July 23, 1958 in Rochester, Minnesota, and was the oldest son of Demetrio & Mary Verich of Laona, Wisconsin.
Peter spent his early years in California, Virginia and South Bend, Indiana. He graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend in May 1976, where he played varsity football and was on the varsity swim team. He
proudly joined the U.S. Marine Corps immediately after graduation and honorably served on active duty for 4 years, including service in the Western Pacific region. He was a lifelong member of the DAV. Peter was a man of deep faith and spent hours studying scripture both at home and with church Bible Study groups. He enjoyed working on his many projects and had a keen entrepreneurial spirit.
Peter is survived by his parents, Demetrio & Mary; his 1 sister, Nicole (Doug) Browne of Reno, Nevada; his 5 brothers, Andrew (Viktoria) Verich of Moscow, Russia; Matthew (Allison) Verich of Alexandria, Virginia; Daniel (Jennifer) Verich of San Antonio, Texas; John (Jill) Verich of Winneconne, Wisconsin; Joe (Kaia) Verich of St. Paul, Minnesota; 20 nieces and nephews; and special friends to whom the family expresses much gratitude: Barbara (Jim - deceased) Covey; Jerry (Jolene) Cooley; and Tom Hillary, all of San Diego, CA.
Peter always enjoyed his visits to Wisconsin and he especially loved and was very proud of his family. His family and friends will dearly miss him. A gathering of family and friends followed by a Memorial Mass and burial will be held at a later date in Laona, Wisconsin.
