Robert Jay “Bob” Crouch
April 18, 1930 – March 23, 2018
San Diego – Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side. Born in Wabash, Indiana, Bob and his family moved to San Diego in 1946. He attended San Diego High School where he met his wife, June denBoestert. Bob served in the Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. Bob and June married in 1951 and raised three children.

Bob was honored to serve as President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, 1959 to 1960. During his tenure with the JC’s he was highly acclaimed and Bob and June enjoyed socializing with the many organizations the JC’s supported. In 1964, Bob became President of the Lion’s Club, all while working in the Insurance industry.

In the late 1970’s Bob transitioned into the Hotel Management business, having worked at the Bahia and Catamaran Hotels as well as the then, Vacation Village Hotel, the San Diego County Bar Association, and then ultimately retiring from the University Club.
During his retirement years, Bob greatly enjoyed “working” in the visitor’s center at Balboa Park. Bob truly enjoyed a good Opera and was a Supernumerary in the Opera Turandot in 2006. Bob was a member and past President of the Jolly Boys where their motto is “Why be serious when it’s so easy to go have fun” and “If you can’t frolic your friends who can you frolic.”

Bob leaves behind his wife of 66 years, his daughters Kim (Dan), Carri (Sparky) and son Brian (Susan).
A Celebration of Life will be held April 7 at 2pm, Palisades Presbyterian Church, 6301 Birchwood St, San Diego, CA 92120, reception immediately following. His ashes will be scattered at sea at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or Palisades Presbyterian Church.
