Obituary for Robert Dwight Stainbrook

Robert Stainbrook, 88, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2017, with his loving wife of 65 years, Lee Ann, by his side. Robert (Bob) was born in Fargo, North Dakota, on July 9, 1929. At the age of 18 years he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During his service in the Air Force, he did tours of duty in Korea during the Korean War and Thailand during the Vietnam War. While stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, Bob met Lee Ann in Las Vegas where she was vacationing with her girlfriends. Bob and Lee Ann were married on March 16, 1952, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in San Diego. After being married, Bob and Lee Ann were able to live in various locations state–side and over seas.

He retired from the Air Force in 1969. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to work for PSA (Pacific Southwest Airlines), later known as U.S. Airways. Bob was an airplane mechanic and retired after 20 years. In retirement, Bob enjoyed fishing and working in the garage on various projects. Bob and Lee enjoyed many trips in their motor home with “The Cousins Group”, monthly get togethers with their Bunco group, and yearly camping trips with their grandson Garrett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lee Ann; his son Dennis (Lori); and grandson, Garrett. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend. He will be greatly missed and will forever be in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
