Dr. Roger David Stoike, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on October 23, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. Roger was born in Austin, Minnesota on March 12, 1936. He attended St. Olaf College, and went on to study medicine at the College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons. He practiced Internal Medicine in Chula Vista until the age of 71, and was instrumental in establishing the ICU at Bay General Hospital.
Roger was a car enthusiast, with a particular love of Porsches. He was a Chargers season ticket holder for over 50 years. He loved and participated in many sports, including football, racquetball, surfing, scuba diving and running.
Roger is survived by Anita Hammersley and their three children, Dana Riccard (Tom), Greg Stoike (Amy), and Nancy Kura (Brian), as well as Betty Stoike and their son Dr. David EJ Stoike (Kristine). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Memorial donations to honor Roger may be made to the American Cancer Society.
