Russell Frank Himmer, a man of enduring spirit and unwavering commitment, was born on October 12th, 1936, in Richmond, Virginia. He peacefully departed from this world on December 14th, 2023.
Russell was the beloved son of Russel and Audrey Mae Himmer.Russell was predeceased by his cherished high school sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Patricia Louise Himmer, and their son, Russell Kevin Himmer. He is survived by his loving sister, Ruth Milocco, and his brother, James Stevens, as well as two half-sisters MaryAnn Rossi and Sharon Bingham. Russell's legacy continues through his three other children: Terri Rochelle Beach and her husband Brian, Toni Michelle Tedeschi and her husband Fred, and son Ryan Russell Himmer. A devoted family man, Russell was a grandfather to seven grandchildren, and a great-grandfather to three.
San Diego was Russell's home for the majority of his life, though his childhood unfolded in Utah, and in Hawaii when his father served in Pearl Harbor during his Navy years. At the tender age of 5, Russell became one of the youngest survivors of the historic Pearl Harbor attack.Russell's passion for athletics was evident during his formative years at Sweetwater High School and San Diego State University, where he specialized in hurdles as a track runner. This early commitment to excellence foreshadowed the dedication that defined his personal and professional life.
For six decades, Russell contributed his talents to the insurance industry, leaving an indelible mark on colleagues and clients alike. Even in his later years, he continued to work part-time until the age of 87, a testament to his enduring work ethic.In reflecting upon Russell Frank Himmer's life, we celebrate a man whose resilience, dedication, and love for family shaped the narrative of his existence.
