Ruth Townsend

Ruth (Fernandez) Townsend was born on April 23, 1923 to the late Antonio and Rosario

Fernandez in Phoenix, Arizona. Her family moved to San Diego in 1936 where she lived the

rest of her 101 years. Her journey on this earth ended with a peaceful transition to eternity on

November 1, 2024. 

Always one to speak her mind and dress impeccably, Ruth was great entertainment for her

family, friends and those who provided care during her later years. She loved to play the piano

and continued sharing her talent by playing for the church services at Paradise Village Manor

well into her 90s. Watching black and white Spanish soap operas was one of her favorite

pastimes. 

Ruth was the proud mother of Omar (Betty) and Armand Ramirez. She was blessed with her

grandchildren, Eva (Emilio) and Jared. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Esther Sherman and Naomi Arispe, and

brothers Benjamin, Constantino, Daniel and Antonio, along with her husbands (in order),

Enrique Ramirez, and Thomas Townsend. 

The family thanks all of the nurses and staff at Paradise Village Manor and Comfort and Peace

Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of Ruth. Her final resting place will be Singing

Hills Memorial Park.
