Sam W. Harvey II

April 4, 1945 — August 3, 2024

Samuel W. Harvey II, a man of unwavering kindness and undeniable love, bid farewell to this world on the 3rd of August, 2024, in the city he knew as both his birthplace and final resting ground, San Diego. Born on a crisp spring day in 1945, Sam's life journey came full circle in the place where it all began.

Throughout his life, Sam was not merely a man of existence, but a man of purpose and passion. His time in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam, marked a chapter of service and dedication to his country that he carried with honor. Beyond his military service, Sam's devotion to his family was the cornerstone of his being. Sam has now joined Vikki Harvey, his beloved wife of over 50 years, to begin their next chapter together.

Sam's memories will forever be etched in the hearts of those he held dear. His children, Kym Harvey and Sam Harvey; his daughter-in-law, Diana; his honorary second daughter, Gina; his grandchildren, Aubrianna, Kayleen, Sofia, Brithany, and Clayton; and his honorary grandchildren, Maria and Delaney. They will all carry forward the legacy of a man who cherished every moment spent with his family.

In the tapestry of Sam's life, woven with threads of love and laughter, his hobbies and interests added vibrant colors. An avid reader, the whisper of turning pages was a melody to his ears. Camping under the stars, racing through mountain trails on his bike, and casting his line into the waters for that perfect catch brought him solace and joy. Western movies and country music were more than just entertainment, they were pieces of nostalgia that painted the canvas of his soul. His everlasting love for games, such as cribbage, will forever be a staple in our hearts. The great outdoors welcomed him with open arms, a sanctuary where he found peace in the embrace of nature.

Sam's home was a haven where the aroma of his culinary creations lingered, a place where family found solace, love, and joy. Sam loved to showcase his skills at the BBQ and in the kitchen. He often had requests from his family to make his signature dishes--and he had many! His love and passion for sports was a staple in our household, especially soccer! He coached both Sam and Kym and was the head referee, and the commissioner for AYSO. His presence, a beacon of light that illuminated even the darkest of days, will forever be missed but never forgotten.

As we bid adieu to a man whose laughter filled our hearts and whose love knew no bounds, we find solace in the memories he gifted us. One fond memory is that we often referred to him as the human map! Samuel W. Harvey II's legacy will forever endure, a testament to a life well-lived and a heart full of love. May his soul find eternal peace in the embrace of the heavens, where his spirit will dance among the stars he so dearly loved.
