Sandra Katila Paesel

Sandra Katila Paesel, of Poway, CA passed away peacefully, on October 6, 2021. Sandra fought Alzheimer’s for over two years. Sandra, also known as “Sandy," was born in Randsburg, CA, on July 6,1936, the wife of Carl Paesel and daughter of Lillian and Wayne Katila. She graduated from Narbonne High School in Lomita, CA and received her BA in Art History from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Maija Flanagan and her husband Richard Flanagan of Boston, MA; and her granddaughters Molly and Kylie Flanagan of Boston, MA.
Her sister, Susan Archbold and her husband Randy Archbold of Kanab, UT and her niece Erin Silman of Murrieta, CA and nephew Ethan Archbold of Kanab UT; along with their spouses and children. Cousins include; Mary Puerta of Long Beach, CA, Craig Chudy of Bishop, CA and his family, Nancyanne Woodard of Mount Wolf, PA and Susan Stevens of Murray, K
Sandy had several interests and passions. She was a homemaker, seamstress, interior decorator and artist. She created art in several different mediums; from pen and ink drawings, to painting, and stone sculpting. She loved to entertain and was an excellent cook. She was also very athletic and loved to play golf and bike. She loved to travel and did so extensively in Europe as well as she lived in Germany and Greece. She was also crazy about animals, especially cats.
Sandy’s most admired passion was her zest for life! She had a terrific sense of humor and an infectious laugh. These qualities are why people loved Sandy.
She loved her family and friends. All that knew her were the beneficiaries of that love. She will be forever remembered, loved and missed. May she Rest in Peace.
