Sin Lam Chiu, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on November 30, 2024, at the age of 69, in San Diego, California. Sin Lam’s life was marked by his dedication to home and family.
Sin Lam spent most of his early life in Hong Kong, where he met his wife, Flocerfida, and had two children, Yu Yeung and Wing Yan. Growing up in a close-knit family with six siblings. Sin Lam loved to spend time with relatives, both immediate and extended.
Sin Lam was very steadfast and hardworking. He had a successful career in construction until moving to the United States, when Sin Lam pivoted to focus on looking after his children and wife in a new country. This new role at home was the most important to Sin Lam because he worked tirelessly to keep his family healthy and safe. Sin Lam was very energetic and active despite battling chronic health issues for much of his life, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which caused him to remain home more often later in life, though not less involved in his loved ones’ lives.
In his spare time, Sin Lam enjoyed listening to music and the radio; some of his favorite artists were the Beatles, Bee Gees, Elvis Presley, and Andy Williams. Although his vocal range was not the best, Sin Lam still enjoyed singing along to his favorite songs to the best of his ability. Sin Lam also enjoyed reading, writing, and learning; oftentimes jotted down notes of current events from the news to discuss with relatives, friends, and occasionally a passing stranger. Often described as outspoken, Sin Lam frequently debated any and all topics to pick people’s brains. More than anything, Sin Lam enjoyed chatting with his children, nieces, nephews, and young people to pass on life lessons and advice.
The wish Sin Lam had throughout the duration of his life, and even after his death, was for all his loved ones to take care of each other, be happy, and have fulfilling lives.
