Sonya Marie Casalnuovo

March 15, 1967 — October 2, 2024

Sonya, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories with all who knew her and loved her. Born on March 15, 1967, in San Diego, California, to Anne Colman Frey Bradley and William Francis Bradley, Sonya was the oldest of three sisters.

Sonya attended El Capitan High School, where she excelled academically and was an active member of the cheerleading team. Sonya's passion for fashion led her to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM). Later, she earned a Bachelor of Business degree from San Diego State University, pursuing a successful career in accounting, where she worked for over 20 years in various roles.

From a young age, Sonya had a deep love for music. She would often play tunes on the family’s upright piano and attended numerous music festivals and concerts throughout California and Mexico, a passion that brought her much joy.

Sonya’s love for the ocean was equally strong. Whether she was walking along the shore, boogie boarding with her mom, or simply enjoying the serenity of the beach, the coast was her haven. She spent almost 20 years living in Ocean Beach, blessed with a view of the ocean that brought her peace.

Sonya also had a natural green thumb. Over the years, she cultivated a collection of more than 30 plants and flowers, which she nurtured with great care both inside and outside her home.

Sonya is predeceased by her mom, Anne. She is survived by her sisters, Anita and Diana; her dad Bill and his partner Beth; her nephew, Sean; niece, Alanna; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched. Sonya’s love for life, nature, music, and her family and friends will never be forgotten.

A celebration of Sonya’s life will be held at a future date - details will be provided. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Sharp HospiceCare in her memory.
