Vincent John Thayer

Vincent John Thayer, known affectionately as VJ, was born on March 5, 1956, in the beautiful city of San Diego, California. He peacefully departed from this world on June 16, 2024, in the same city he called home throughout life. Vincent was a 1974 graduate of St. Augustine High School. His professional career path led him to a position as Contract Specialist with the Department of Defense under the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, NAVFAC, for thirty years.

Vincent led a remarkable life filled with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering determination. His presence illuminated the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. With as vast as the ocean that bordered his hometown, Vincent touched countless souls with his kindness and genuine nature.

Throughout his journey, Vincent exhibited a deep love for his religion and was known for his generosity towards those in need. His legacy of altruism and empathy will forever remain a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to witness his acts of kindness.

In the face of adversity, Vincent displayed unparalleled strength and grace. Even as he faced challenges during his illness, he continued to exude courage and resilience that inspired all those around him.

Vincent John Thayer is survived by his loving family and friends who will carry forth his memory with fondness and admiration. While we mourn the loss of such an exceptional individual, we take solace in knowing that his spirit will live on eternally in our hearts.

Those left to cherish his memory include his life companion, Richard Collins of San Diego; sister Patricia Lee and her husband Ed of San Diego; sister Ellen Hennon and her husband Earl of Spring Valley; sister Ruth Burrows and her husband Roy of Lemon Grove; sister Barbara Jo Thayer of Lemon Grove; brother Larry and his wife Joy Lynn of El Cajon

A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church on Saturday July 6th, 2024 at 10:00 am. The church is located at 3585 30th Street North Park, San Diego, California 92104. Flowers for the service should be received at the church during business hours, no later than July 5th.

A celebration of life will be held immediately following the Mass at the home of Earl and Ellen Hennon, 2150 North Slope Terrace, Spring Valley, CA 91977
