Today we are here as a family to say our goodbyes to a man with many titles. Honey, Husband, Dad, Pops, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Uncle, Walter, Walt, and Butch or Greybeard, and of course, MacGyver! No matter what you knew him by, you loved and respected him all the same!
I'm sure everyone here remembers how he loved to tell stories of his childhood, from walking to school barefoot in the snow UPHILL, (we all knew THAT wasn't true) HAHA! Too learning how to build and fix old cars. If it could be done, fixed or seen, it always seemed like he was the one who'd done it all and loved to talk about it!
Everywhere he went, he ALWAYS saw SOMEONE he knew, some of them from as far back as his childhood home on Morrison Street. They always remembered him as well and were always happy to see him.
Dad had many enjoyments in his lifetime, including fishing, camping, restoring old cars and showing them at car shows, talking for hours on his CB and of course watching his favorite TV shows with mom.
There is so much more to say about him, but I know that he is lying there saying, "SHIT, is this thing over yet, I need a cigarette!"
Dad wasn't a spiritual man, but I know that God is waiting for him with open arms, has the TV set to Gunsmoke and a big plate of liver and onions!
We love you and will miss you! We will cherish all that you have taught us and all the memories you gave us.
See you in Heaven! Rest in peace.
